Cindy Valdez, an artist who lives in Espanola Valley, has had horses since she was 14. Three years ago she started taking pictures of her newly born foal Gangster. There was such a strong sense of intimacy between mare and foal in this first series of photographs she decided to render the images into portraits that would capture the heart of the observer. The results are being displayed as part of the “Old West, New West” exhibit at the Karen Wray Fine Art Gallery. “I will be interested to see what kind of a response she gets,” said Valdez. “Karen is the first person who has given me the opportunity to hang up my work for the public.” Karen Wray will host an opening reception on April 29 from 5-7 pm at Karen Wray Fine Art, 2101 Trinity Drive, Suite B-2.
